Common applications

EASY Cal is a calcium nitrate fertiliser solution for fertigation programs and foliar sprays. It can be applied:

  • directly to the soil without further dilution
  • alone or mixed with other fertilisers*
  • fertigated through irrigation systems
  • in foliar sprays.

Benefits

  • Liquid fertilisers like EASY Cal can distribute nutrients more evenly than solid fertilisers, particularly when low rates are used.
  • EASY Cal can be metered precisely for variable rate applications.
  • Pumps are used to transfer EASY Cal, so there is no need for manual lifting, augers or forklifts.
  • There is no dust or downtime in waiting for solid products to dissolve.
  • It can be stored in cost-effective heavy duty poly tanks.
  • It does not deteriorate in storage, and can be stored from year to year if required.
  • EASY Cal can be blended with other EASY Liquids® fertilisers for alternative nutrient concentrations.
  • EASY Cal offers flexibility in application. It can be injected into the soil, sprayed on to the soil, applied using boomsprays with dribble bars or streaming nozzles, and even foliar sprayed or fertigated if required.

Fertigation

EASY Cal can be used to prevent calcium deficiency in rapidly growing new plant tissue and fruit, or as a nonacidifying source of nitrogen in fertigation programs where soil acidification around emitters is a concern. It is not appropriate for soil amelioration.

EASY Cal can be injected directly into irrigation lines without further dilution in water in the mixing tank.

Foliar sprays

Foliar sprays of EASY Cal can be used to supplement soil applied calcium. Calcium is not readily relocated from old to young leaves and developing plant parts. This means it is necessary to apply calcium regularly and direct the spray at the plant parts affected by deficiency.

Foliar sprays of EASY Cal will be ineffective for hearting vegetables, such as lettuce, as the solution will not reach the young enclosed leaves. Nor is it recommended for tuber crops, such as potatoes.

EASY Cal foliar sprays are ideal for frequent application at lower concentrations during the fruit filling period in tree crops, for example 250 mL/100 L at 1 to 2 week intervals.

There are limits to the amount of EASY Cal that can be applied in foliar sprays without burning the leaves. Crops and varieties vary in their susceptibility to leaf burn.
